An Homage to London
With the 2012 Summer Olympics just around the corner, here are a few London maps that pay homage to this year’s host city.
The utterly impressive hand drawn map of London by Jenni Sparks took over two months to complete. The map includes everything from famous landmarks to Tube stops and unconventional annotations about the different neighborhoods of London.
This London paper cut by Famille Summerbelle is more art than map, but still details the city’s central boroughs and the famous attractions within them. From the London Eye to the 30 St Mary Axe skyscraper (The Gherkin), the laser cut is a fabulously artistic representation of the city.
Stephen Walter’s London Subterranea map intricately details a lesser-known side of the city. The map marks everything underground in London from the obvious, like the Tube lines to the not so obvious buried rivers, unsolved murders and government tunnels.
