One of our favourite columns with tips and itineraries for traveling on a shoestring is found weekly as a blog and in print for The New York Times. A year ago, Seth Kugel took up the challenge to become the new Frugal Traveler for the Times, where he seeks to not only save money while still enjoying travel, but also finding great value in spending money on the road. Apart from traveling, Seth has been a bilingual teacher in the Bronx, a staff writer for The New York Times, a correspondent for Global Post in Brazil, and has written for publications like The Washington Post, Condé Nast Traveler and Wallpaper. For Seth’s next adventure (we love this!), he’s asked the online community to plan a budget trip for him – where he’ll build an itinerary for five days along the west coast of Italy as part of a 10-week Mediterranean adventure. But recently, while sitting at a café in Brooklyn on a sunny afternoon, we called up Seth on Skype to talk travel – catching him at home in sunny Sao Paulo, Brazil. Enjoy! Daniel
